Commissioned by Swatch Art Peace Hotel

An Otome game is a Japanese story-based video game aimed for a female audience. Generally one of the goals, besides the main idea/goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player/main character and one of the second-lead male characters.

Inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus (c.1484 - 1486) , and the goddess Venus’ complicated love stories, “The Olympian Academy” is an experimental film/pseudo otome game following the love affairs of Venus in a school-setting.

Through absurd and surreal scenarios, the “player” may be in awe and frustrated. Yet, this chaotic process is also our human experience of finding love. This film comments on modern day love in many forms (the yearning for love, self-love, romantic love, familial love), views on marriage, infidelity and trauma.
