PAPAPA

Experimental Film, 14’03’’

PAPAPA is a experimental film that follows Nono, an emperor penguin, journey in search for her missing father, known as Papa. Set against the backdrop of an anamorphic Antarctica, this film employs surreal aesthetics to explore complex themes such as psychological trauma, financial and emotional debt, capitalism, and the intricacies of family structure in the internet era.

The film is divided into three visually distinct ACTs. In ACT I, the artist transforms cyanotypes into animation and adds several different layers, creating a moving-painting. Throughout the film, the artist portrays all the characters, adding a sense of caricature humor and authentic to the narrative.

As the penguin navigates a world filled with both literal and metaphorical predators, the film critiques patriarchal structures and highlights the enduring impact of familial bonds and obligations.
