NOWNESS collaborates with Chanel once again, building on the Elemental Film Series 2022. The project brings together Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge in conversation with actress and ambassador Zhang Jun Ning, musician Ma Ning Ning, and art media publisher Cao Dan, exploring contemporary interpretations of femininity in the fields of Grasse.
Grasse jasmine — a delicate and exquisite flower personally selected by Mademoiselle Coco Chanel — remains one of the key ingredients of the iconic No.5. Travelling to the heart of southern France, the home of perfumery, the guests step into sunlit flower fields, encounter local harvesters, and gain rare access to the perfume-making process within Chanel’s laboratories. Through this journey, they trace the heritage embedded in No.5, while reflecting on how its legacy continues to shape ideas of modern, independent womanhood.
